Closing in on the dirty dozen, here's the latest in a series of collaborations that I worked on with Vincent Gordon...
Check out the latest and greatest...finally got this art back from a show in SF. Originals are for sale in the store, and prints are on the way! Summer is fast approaching, and once again I'll be on tour across the U.S. live painting with the ID Festival! Joining me will be VIncent Gordon and Matt Schugar, as well as surprise guest artists. More details on the festival to follow, but for now here's the dates! July 19 Riverbend Music Center, Cincinnati, OH July 20 Elektricity Festival grounds, Pontiac, MI July 26 Comcast Center, Mansfield, MA July 27 Jiffy Lube Live, Bristow, VA July 28 Nikon at Jones Beach Theater, Wantagh, NY July 29 Festival Pier at Penn's Landing, Philadelphia, PA August 2 Aaron's Amphitheater at Lakewood, Atlanta, GA August 3 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheater, Tampa, FL August 4 Klipsch Amphitheater at Bayfront Park, Miami, FL August 10 Gexa Energy Pavilion, Dallas, TX August 11 Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, The Woodlands, TX August 17 Shoreline Amphitheater, Mountain View, CA August 18 Cricket Wireless Amphitheater, Chula Vista, CA August 19 Ashley Furniture HomeStore Pavilion, Phoenix, AZ Want some free art? Just have your buddy put your name in the 'comment' section of the checkout, and drop me an email at sean@industriacide.com letting me know what print you want and you'll get a free print! I'll even pay for shipping. Easy. (limit one print per order) Who likes change? We all like change, right?! Well, unless it's when Facebook goes and changes some sort of format and sends all it's users into a destructive frenzy with people Instagraming pictures of them burning bunnies, but hey, any press is good press, right? Well it's been a hell of a year so far, my career is going crazy in a good way, and it's time to settle in and really work on adding some content to the website and newsletter, that not only reflects the art and products I would love for you to enjoy (and buy!), but also gives some sort of insight into my process, the knowledge I've learned over the years of live painting, and an opportunity for you to add content and offer advice or critiques of the art or techniques I offer. Anyone with half a brain knows that it's the fans that make the artist, not the art. There's an ocean of talented artists drowning in debt from art school that the world will never know of, unless served by them at the restaurant they work at in order to pay off those loans. This business is a fucking crapshoot at times, and the highs and lows are as extreme as you can get. One day I'll be at the top of my game painting for thousands and selling prints like they hold the secret to life, and the next day I'm at an event in La Jolla surrounded by rich people who will never buy anything from me, because I'm not channeling the ghost of Bob Ross in order to paint happy trees and flowers. That's ok, though, the rich really never did 'get it'. So anyways, some of the changes that you'll find will include: --A QUICK INTERVIEW with an artist that I've worked with, supported, is up and coming, or is just plain bad ass at his or her craft. I've had the pleasure to show with some top talent, and would love to introduce you to them. --A CHARITY SECTION that lists the charities that I've donated art to/worked with, and info on how you can contact me if you have a charity event that you would like to enhance with live art. I donate tens of thousands of dollars worth of art each and every year, and offer my time to teach, create live art, or guest speak at various events. --FEEDBACK, REFERRALS AND IDEAS FOR prints and books! I'll be adding information about a program for those who refer business to me, or offer feedback that is used to improve the site or any of my social media outlets. Barter is the greatest form of currency for any artist! --FUNDRAISING/SPONSORSHIP page for national and local businesses who want to help keep myself and the Infusion Project artists on tour this summer in relative comfort, instead of riding donkeys from town to town, while promoting their businesses. We'll also offer levels of private donation as well, which will be rewarded with art, prints and books. --ARTIST ADVICE section which will feature knowledge from my many years of live painting, publishing, drinking etc. If you have a question that you would like answered, or want some advice on publishing/touring/live painting then feel free to email me at sean@industriacide.com and ask! I'll answer the best I can, bring in someone who can, or just tell you what to drink to make you forget you ever asked :) Any option is a step in the opposite direction of doing nothing. I want the artists of this world to know that there is someone out there that is willing to step on some toes, let you know how it really is, and give honest feedback to your concerns. This is not the industry for those who need a blueprint for success--the artist wakes up everyday and has over 6.5 billion potential customers. How you capture their attention is up to you, but I can offer some stories from my path, and hopefully offer you options other than thinking you have to spend a ton of cash on art school in order to succeed. I'm looking forward to spending more time online offering up advice, sharing stories and of course creating and showing off new art, and I can't wait to see what you have to offer as well! Now that we are into convention season and my summer U.S. Live art tour with the Infusion Project is just around the corner, as well as the launch of my new book 'The Nazi and the Rabbit' on May 28th (oops, leaked it!), I'm ready to unleash a storm of art and information, that would make Deep Throat lose his voice. Thanks for the support and see you on the road! So the cryptic timer on the front page is here...now all you have to do is wait. So the 10th anniversary of the Emerald City Comic Con has come and gone, and like the last 9 years I've been doing this show, it has not disappointed! This is my favorite con for a reason, and the enthusiasm the fans show for my art, and the wonderful conversations I get to indulge in will keep me coming back. Thanks to all my booth buddies for keeping it insane and fun, and congrats to the winner of the painting I gave away! I'll be up at the end of Sept for the Jet City Comic Con as well, and rumor has it I'll be bringing quite the cast of characters with me, so stay tuned for details on that! Other than that, my next shows will be local to San Diego, with appearances in San Fran at the end of April - keep checkin |
